The simple way to find a wedding photographerfor your wedding
Trevor Sorbie
Its the one day of your life that you know will be photographed, so make sure your hair looks beautiful says Trevor Sorbie, four times British Hairdresser of the Year. Every woman needs a hairdresser on her wedding day but it is important to remember that the groom needs the girl he loves to be waiting from him at the end of the aisle, not someone he doesnt recognise.
Use your regular hairdresser, who knows your style, rather than opt for someone new for the big day. Be comfortable. Book an appointment for a consultation at least three months before the wedding and take along a sketch of the dress, a sample of fabric plus pictures cut from magazines of bridal hairstyles you like and are not too different from the way you normally wear your hair. It is a good idea to ask your mother or a friend to go with you to the consultation so you can discuss various options together. Now is the time to decide whether you want to wear a tiara, flowers or a hat and if you want a veil. A good hairdresser will help you decide which type of look suits your personality and your dress. If your groom is shorter or taller than you then tell your hairdresser so he can take this into consideration when designing your style. Dont forget to mention what type of wedding you will be having, i.e. traditional or a church or civil ceremony all these points have a bearing on your total look. Wedding day hair doesnt have to be extravagant. In some cases, it might be best to simply opt for a slightly dressier version of your usual
style. Chemical treatments like perms and colours should be done a few weeks in advance of your wedding. You will also need to book appointments for cutting, conditioning services and manicure.
Nearer the wedding stock up on all the hair care products you need for trouble-free tresses whilst you
are on your honeymoon. Shampoo, conditioner, colour protective products to shield hair from the stresses of sun, salt and chlorinated water. Your hairdresser will advise you on the best products and treatments for your hair type and texture and show you how to style your hair quickly and easily so you look beautiful every day.
Bridal hair tips
Get the florist to make a prototype of your floral head-dress so your hairdresser can practice fixing it in place.
A trial run is essential so you know you will be happy with your final look.
The shape of your neckline is important when considering your hairstyle.
If your hair is fine avoid heavy head-dresses that can flatten hair.
If you are having your hair put up it is best to shampoo the day before it will be easier to handle.
Dont forget to book hairdressing appointments for the rest of your bridal party.
