South Downs confirmed as a National Park today, 12 November 2009. Sussex Landscape Tours. Our guided tours last for one day and our aim is to send you away enthused, knowledgeable and passionate aout both your camera and photography. On this tour we visit the incredible and inspiring Sussex Downs. A walk along the South Downs way can literally put you back on top of the world and completely blows away the cobwebs. One day up here and you will forget you have a routine. It is awe inspiring. After a lunch in a traditional Sussex pub, with a wealth of local ales and fine locally sourced foods to choose from, we return, refuelled, to the stunning south coast and sea front and of Britain's newest City, Brighton. Past students picture gallery page.

With its two piers, a unique wealth of Victorian architecture and street furniture, art and street furniture installations, bistro's and cafes amongst the arches on the board walk, we are absolutely spoiled for choice of photographic subjects. And as if this wasn't enough, during the winter months, thousands of starlings descend upon the piers at sun down to roost each evening, spectacularly turning the sky black with their remarkable sweeping and diving before settling, known as a 'murmuring'. It is one of the single most unique natural phenomenon in British nature. When the course ends at 4.30pm, why not invite your partner or friends to join you in one of the Cities many fine eateries and restaraunts and enjoy a well earned meal and glass of wine. Or, simply continue shooting and walk back to the station, 10 minutes from the seafront for your onward journey. Alternatively, there is a wealth of hotels and accommodation for all budgets. Let us help you source one and make the most of your time in our City. Book for Xmas.

During the day we look at camera functions, settings and how to be more adventurous in getting better

pictures from our kit. We consider composition, bracketting, depth of field and how and when it is best applied. We encourage you to work towards achieving the pictures you want to make. And to get to know your camera. No special kit is required, although a tripod will be useful as will a wide angle and zoom lens. Far more important are your walking shoes (we recommend good quality hiking boots as the terrain at times can be muddy), imagination, willingness to learn and a sense of adventure. We go out in most weathers,

only postponing for rain. If we get a clear bright day then that is obviously a bonus, but the landscape is so unique and inspiring, with forna, rolling hills, chalky deposits, windmills windswept trees and clean air, you

will absolutely go away with not only a far better appreciation of your camera and wonderful collection of images, but a spring in your step too. Ideal Mothers Day gift, gift vouchers available.

Meet at Brighton Station: 9.30/9.45 am

On colder days during the winters we take tea and soup flasks with us onto the Downs that are a 15 to 20 minute drive away. Your tutor will then drive you to a number of locations where we can begin to put into practice photographic techniques. Please dress appropriately for adverse and cold conditions. Lunch is not provided and is NOT included in the cost, so don't forget your wallet! The emphasis on the day is fun and adventure as part of the learning process. Our courses are relaxed and informal and should be treated as such. So whether you are a seasoned Pro and would appreciate a day out with some company in this wonderful landscape, or if you are a complete novice bewildered by your latest 'toy', take that day off work you keep promising yourself and come and fall in love with Sussex again. You wont be dissapointed.

Cost: £105. Our groups are small, usually no more than four students participate at a time, so you really

do our have our full professional attention. Small group bookings welcome. Tours tailored for specific areas of interest. Itineries posted out in the days before a tour. Book early to avoid dissapointment, for Xmas.

This week, March 2009, came the long overdue news that the South Downs are to be made a National Park. 60 years ago the South Downs were first suggested for inclusion in National Park status. What this means in real and practical terms is that the outstanding area will now be preserved for future generations as is it is today. Whatever pressures exist to build it wont be allowed on the South Downs which is wonderful news. The creeping over development of the area has been a significant threat for some time, and some highly dubious decisions have been made in recent times such as allowing hugely high Wind turbines in completely inappropriate landscapes, for example. This threat is now likely to rescede and present less of a challenge to the amazing landscape we enjoy today.

Course Testimonies: Dont just take our word for it, here's what others say: ' I just wanted to say a big thank you for the course on Saturday, I found it very interesting and learned a lot about composing pictures and my camera. I was also pleasantly surprised by some of my photos!'

This week I have been "boring" my kids by going look at this and look at that.....'

'Many thanks, my camera has functions I never understood, now I do and my photos are improving dramatically. With no time for an evening course yours was just perfect.'

The day course was just what I needed. It's given me a 'lift' and the confidence to produce images I have only previously dreamed of producing. Like learning anything, it is simple when you know how. Thanks.'

'I never really thought about composition before, now I finally get it'. 'Fantastic locations, good instruction, positive encouragement and of course, a fine collection of images was achieved throughout the day. Thank you. My photos are suddenly WOW!'

'Just what I needed.' 'I never get this time to dedicate to my photography, I've learned more today than in the previous 12 months since owning the Nikon.'

'I am still getting my head around shutter speeds and F-stops but feel far more confident than ever that I am now getting to know my camera.' 'The Downs are wonderful, and I love Brighton seafront so much. Thanks for a fantastic day' 'Superb.'
